Adding Videography To Your Wedding Package

For most people, hiring a photographer is extremely high on their priority list when organising a wedding. I would think that close to all weddings hire a photographer in some regard or another. You get your set of photos to remember the day by and those memories are cemented in the history books for eternity. But should you hire a wedding videographer? It’s often the “add-on” that most couples might think about after photography is sorted, so is hiring a wedding videographer worth it?

Spoiler alert, it is absolutely worth it. Of course, I’m slightly biased, but let’s discuss 3 reasons to hire a wedding videographer and how it can make your day just that more special.

1. It Captures The Moments In Between The Photos

Photos do an incredible job of capturing individual moments, storing a huge amount of emotion and feeling inside one single frame. However, there are some things they just can’t do. The cute glances, the cheeky smiles, the way you walk down the aisle – those are all things that video captures perfectly.

Don’t get me wrong, photography does a great job of most of those things, but videography has a great way of showing those unseen bits of your wedding day. You won’t just get the highlights, you’ll get the real, authentic wedding day. That means silly moments, reactions that may have been missed and entire scenes that play out just like they did in the moment.

2. It Builds An Authentic Narrative Of Your Day

Great videography always requires one main thing: an impeccable narrative. That’s why videography and weddings go so well together. Your big day is about the both of you embarking on the next part of your lives together, the next chapter in your metaphorical book. Your friends and family are a part of that story too, and this is a pivotal moment in the plot of your lives.

With videography, we can help tell your story. As we’ve just mentioned, the glances, the atmosphere and the emotions are all things videography does a fantastic job of capturing. All these things compound together to produce a truly authentic narrative of your wedding day.

Wedding days often feel like they come and go far too quickly. It’s practically impossible for you to see and hear everything that happens. Videography can help by being another set of eyes and ears, allowing you to watch those moments play out exactly how they happened.

3. It Adds A Deeper Level To Your Wedding Coverage

Perhaps most importantly for a lot of people, wedding videography adds another layer of coverage to your day. Getting a selection of prints and an album of your wedding day is a wonderful experience, there’s nothing quite like looking through your photos years down the line and remembering that day like it was yesterday.

Being able to actually watch your vows and speeches like they’re happening again in front of you only heightens those emotions and your overall connection to the day. Being taken back to that moment and having your heart filled with love all over again is something everyone wishes they could do, and with videography that’s exactly what happens.

What Videography Options Do I Have?

There are two main video options when it comes to wedding films, and we can provide you with both at Brendan Creaser Photography.

The first option you have is a “highlights film” which consists of a 4-6 minute montage of your day. Those videos are set to music and given an audio overlay with some vows and speeches. It’s a bit of a must-have in my books, especially if you just want that little extra to remember your day from.

The second option is to have your ceremony and speeches recorded, packaged up and delivered. That’s the full recording with edited cuts to guests throughout. After all, it’s great to listen to or watch your speeches again, but even better to see your family and friends’ reactions that you may have missed on the day! You'll of course still get the highlights package included in this as it's simply the best 5 minutes you'll spend!

Videography may not be the first thing that comes to mind for your wedding, but coupled with photography it delivers the most authentic vision of your big day. There’s honestly nothing like reliving those memories by seeing them play out in front of you. Unless you have access to a time machine, you won’t feel more of a connection to your big day than with videography and photography together.
