Lucas was serving in the Australian Defence Force at the time, and soon after, Caitlyn decided to join the Army as well. Their shared experiences took them all the way to Far North Queensland, where they built a life filled with adventure, growth and countless road trips across Australia with their dogs, Mikey and Lola. They met young, grew together and built a strong foundation grounded in support, loyalty and genuine companionship. With Lucas originally from Far North Queensland and Caitlyn from Melbourne, they truly believe fate placed them in the same room that night—the start of something extraordinary.

On June 3, 2024, on the serene island of Miyajima in Japan, Lucas proposed. Caitlyn suspected something when Lucas suggested she get her nails done before the trip—and when he nervously worried airport security might confiscate the ring. But the engagement was still wonderfully surprising and deeply meaningful. Japan holds a special place in their hearts, making it the perfect backdrop for their next chapter.
